The success of Raayan has been a big win for the Tamil film industry, which faced a slow start in 2024. The movie’s strong performance, both in India and overseas, has helped revive Kollywood’s box office. The movie’s success is even more impressive because it is an ‘A’-rated film, meaning it was made for adult audiences due to its intense action and themes. Despite this, Raayan attracted huge crowds, especially in Tamil Nadu, where it grossed over ₹75 crore.
Raayan has set several records. It is Dhanush’s highest-grossing film ever, beating his previous hits like Vaathi and Thiruchitrambalam. Additionally, Raayan is the highest-grossing Tamil film with an ‘A’ certification and the first film by a “Tier-2” Tamil actor to reach the ₹150 crore club.
The action-packed revenge drama directed by Dhanush himself also features S. J. Suryah, Prakash Raj, Selvaraghavan, Sundeep Kishan and Dushara Vijayan.
