Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has completed its first week at the box office with an excellent performance across India and overseas. The movie opened to strong word of mouth, especially in Karnataka and Kerala, and maintained steady collections throughout the week. This Kannada film, directed by Rishab Shetty, is a prequel to the 2022 hit Kantara. It tells the story of ancient traditions, gods, and fights over land in a village. Kantara: Chapter 1 opened with a bang on Day 1, collecting ₹72.80 crore gross in India. The film did well in all languages, Kannada led with ₹22.45 crore followed by Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Worldwide, it made ₹86.75 crore on the first day.
The opening weekend was even better, with the film crossing ₹300 crore worldwide in just four days. Even on weekdays, the film’s popularity didn’t fade. It collected ₹37.20 crore gross on Monday. Tuesday brought in ₹40.95 crore and Wednesday added ₹30.45 crore, taking the seven day India gross total to ₹378.45 crore. It grossed ₹449.60 crore worldwide in its opening week.
