The much anticipated magnum opus Ramayana is already creating massive buzz across the Indian film industry, and now producer Namit Malhotra has made a sensational revelation about the film’s scale and budget. In a recent statement, Malhotra confirmed that he has invested a staggering ₹4000 crores into the project, making it one of the most expensive films ever mounted in Indian cinema.
Speaking about the ambitious venture, Namit Malhotra emphasized that Ramayana is not just a film but a cinematic spectacle designed to redefine visual storytelling in India. In interviews, he said “The shooting for part 1 is almost over now, when I started planning the film, we had a huge vision. Everyone, including the actor asked me if I have enough funds to pull it off. I have finished the first film & have not borrowed a single rupee. I don’t know where the money is coming from, when people ask me how I pulled it off, even I don’t know. This is something else, it’s just happening on its own. This is not just a project or a business proportion”
The producer also mentioned “People often ask me about the final budget, but I don’t track those numbers daily. What matters to me is whether we’re creating the right product. There can be no compromise”.
Ramayana: Part 1 is set to release around Diwali 2026, and Part 2 in 2027. It stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. With such a big investment and praise for its look, fans are excited to see this epic on the big screen. Namit Malhotra’s dream project aims to show the world what Indian cinema can do on a global level.
