Race Gurram, the 2014 Telugu action comedy starring Allu Arjun (as Lucky) and Shruti Haasan, is one of the biggest hits in Telugu cinema. Directed by Surender Reddy, the film was a complete entertainer with mass action, comedy, dances and catchy songs. Fans still love the stylish “Lucky” character and dialogues like “Race Gurram… naa peru Lucky!”
To celebrate Allu Arjun’s birthday, the film got a grand re-release on April 8, 2026. Many theatres screened it in a remastered 4K version for better picture and sound quality. The re-release aimed to bring back the old magic to big screens and let new fans enjoy the fun. Special shows were planned in Telugu states, Karnataka, and some overseas locations.
However, Day 1 collection for the re-release was not as high as many people hoped. It performed better in India, particularly in Andhra and Telangana, but struggled to match the hype overseas. Overseas, especially in the USA, the response was weak. Advance bookings were low in several locations, with some shows seeing single digit sales. The overall worldwide Day 1 collection (including India and overseas) is at ₹2.60 crore gross.
Day 1 Worldwide Box Office Collection
| Region | Gross |
| Andhra/TG | ₹2.30 Cr |
| Karnataka | ₹0.19 Cr |
| Rest Of India | ₹0.02 Cr |
| Overseas | ₹0.09 Cr |
| Total | ₹2.60 Cr |
The Race Gurram re-release did not break any major records and is unlikely to be among the highest grossing re-releases. Even if collections are average, Race Gurram remains a beloved entertainer that defined a phase of Telugu cinema.
