Tamil cinema superstar Suriya has set a new personal milestone with his latest release, Kanguva grossing ₹40.75 crore worldwide on its opening day, securing place as the biggest opener in Suriya’s career. In India, the film grossed ₹28.95 crore. Overseas contributed around ₹11.8 crore.
In Tamil Nadu, Kanguva grossed ₹11.60 crore on its opening day, securing the sixth-biggest opening of the year in the state, outperforming Raayan. The film performed exceptionally well in Kerala, where it earned ₹4.10 crore, becoming the second-biggest Tamil opening of 2024 behind Vijay’s GOAT and surpassing Suriya’s previous record set by Singam 3.
