The highly anticipated Kannada action drama KD: The Devil, starring Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, and Nora Fatehi, has been postponed to 2026. Directed by Prem and produced by Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions. Originally slated for a 2025 release, the film is now expected in the first half of 2026.
Announced back in 2022 as a big project under KVN Productions, KD: The Devil kicked off with huge hype. The title dropped in October 2024, and a teaser smashed records with over 30 million views. Shooting wrapped up after creating massive sets to recreate old Bengaluru, and post-production (editing, effects, and music) has been in full swing.
But delays are common in big films like this. It was first eyed for late 2024, then shifted to early 2025. By mid-2025, fans were told to expect it on September 4 and and even October 23. Sadly, more time was needed to polish the VFX and the team decided to perfect it.
What to Expect from ‘KD: The Devil’
Despite the delay, the film has generated significant buzz. The title teaser, released in October 2022, garnered attention for its multilingual voiceovers by prominent actors including Mohanlal and Sanjay Dutt. The official teaser, launched in July 2025, showcased high octane action sequences and intense visuals, raising anticipation among fans.
The film ensemble cast includes Dhruva Sarja in the lead role, with Sanjay Dutt portraying the antagonist Dhak Deva. Shilpa Shetty plays Satyavati, while Nora Fatehi is making her Kannada film debut. The music, composed by Arjun Janya, has already released two singles: “Shiva Shiva” and “Settagalla,” both of which have been well received.
As the film’s production progresses, fans eagerly await updates and the final release, hoping that the extended wait will result in a cinematic experience worth the anticipation.
