In an exciting reveal, SS Rajamouli and superstar Mahesh Babu’s long awaited film, previously known as SSMB29, has finally got its official title: Varanasi. This is a major announcement for fans, as it marks the first collaboration between Rajamouli known for epic films like Baahubali and RRR.
The name “Varanasi” was formally announced at a grand GlobeTrotter event. At the event, the motion poster showed Mahesh Babu riding a charging bull, creating strong visuals and raising excitement among fans.
Big Scale Production
According to reports, the film is being made on a massive scale. Rajamouli’s team has built an intricate and grand set in Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City to recreate the city of Varanasi. This recreation includes detailed designs of ghats (the riverfront steps), temples, and narrow lanes aiming to give audiences the feel of real Varanasi, but in a controlled film set. Shooting at the actual city might have been difficult due to crowd and logistics, so building the set was a smart choice.
Story and Scale
While full plot details are still under wraps, the film is understood to be an action adventure. There are hints that parts of the story involve mythological or spiritual elements.
The film also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, promising an international feel and strong cast. Music is composed by MM Keeravani, a frequent collaborator with Rajamouli. The film is being produced by KL Narayana under the banner Durga Arts. According to early reports, the makers are planning a wide global release, possibly in 120+ countries.
