Suriya’s much awaited film Vishwanath And Sons, directed by Venky Atluri, is now slated for a grand theatrical release on August 14, 2026. Produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, Vishwanath And Sons promises to be an emotional family entertainer blended with romance, ambition, and drama. The project marks the first collaboration between Suriya and Venky Atluri, a director who earned praise for films like Vaathi and Lucky Baskhar.
The story revolves around Sanjay Vishwanath, a determined international pistol shooter in his 40s, played by Suriya. Even as his professional career begins to fade, Sanjay refuses to give up on his dreams. The narrative explores the complexities of an age gap romance as he finds unexpected love with a much younger woman, portrayed by rising star Mamitha Baiju. Their relationship navigates societal judgments, family expectations, and personal growth, offering a heartfelt take on second chances, emotional bonds, and modern relationships.
Post production work wrapped up recently, leading to the shift from an initial July target to the prestigious Independence Day weekend release on August 14. Industry sources suggest this date offers a clear window, allowing the film to maximize its reach across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and overseas. Netflix has already secured digital rights for a multi language release post-theatrical run.
Music for the film is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, whose background score in the teaser received positive reactions from fans. Cinematography is handled by Nimish Ravi, while editing is by Navin Nooli. The technical team behind the film has further increased expectations among movie lovers.
Apart from Tamil, the film is also expected to attract strong attention in Telugu due to Suriya and Venky Atluri’s popularity presence in Tollywood.
